Postmodern Science is a Call To Arms For New Minds

Postmodern science today is just a willingness to give up the notion that all knowledge is perfectly known by modern science. In these beginning years of this first century of this new millennium and new Great Age, what do we know for sure? Very little beyond the detail that what has been know as "modern" for the prior 10 centuries was always mostly denial and propaganda and now totally obsolete.
The awareness of the implicit difficulties gave rise to the notion of the "postmodern" and then the post-postmodern as modernism became more and more old fashioned, although no one could imagine what might be forming up beyond all of us.
The notion of science is still hung up in the various partial insights developed in the various centuries of the prior millennium from 1001 CE. The idea that we are not living upon the absolute center of reality with everything else in the Universe revolving about us is still not quite within our total grasp.
The theory of the Big Bang is gaining credence, although balanced by an equally devoted following accepting the Genesis poetry about Creation as having nothing to do with anything floating in space let alone the entire Universe being bits of explosion debris expanding and cooling to form galaxies, our Solar System and us.
At this stage we are not ready for any definitive statements about what would make a suitable science for our world just beginning to be totally wracked and devastated by climate crisis, economic meltdown, and sectarian Holy War all based upon rushing off on various tangents arising from human emotions reacting to general ignorance and fear and dealing with nothing successfully.
It is enough to take a firm stance within ourselves, accept the total ignorance which is our background and context, and try to control the panic as we find ever more of our expectations being dashed to bits at an ever faster rate as the exponential curves of blind ambition slam into the limited reality of our Planet Earth.
We can only imagine the algebraic unknown of postmodern science. The parameter now would only be to look at our images of the Big Bang in contrast to the old static earth in a universe of Crystal spheres under the feet of God's throne in Heaven. There is nothing certain, nailed down or exact in our current understanding of our reality. Just accepting that explosive debris of uncertainty is the dividing line between the obsolete modern and the emerging understanding of postmodern science.
Postmodern science today is just a rallying cry and a directional pointer forward. We are still enmeshed in the quagmires of the Crusader Millennium that ended in the year 2000 CE and Y2K. It is after the “modern” which begins in 1001 CE and before there is the sunshine clarity to see what real objective, rational inquiry would be all about.
Every thing called modern is already crumbling into decay and ruins. Anything named post-something hasn’t yet developed enough to be described in itself.Postmodern science or criticism are still in their complaining infancy, tearing apart and ‘deconstructing’ the only models that academia knows. It will take a new generation of millennials to begin the development of the actual content of a truly postmodern science.
New minds seeing the world with young eyes are what Thomas Kuhn originally wrote gives rise to new Science Paradigms. Postmodern science would be a new science paradigm if there were a best selling book published whose fan club was established as the replacements for the retiring professional modern scientists. Unfortunately, there isn’t the 50 years that model envisions until better work can be done. Global warming is in the latter stages of its current scale exponential curve.
Traditionally, this new paradigm generation has to wait for a new century for their ideas to gain momentum. The 19th century built on Napoleonic conquest and steam engine brutality made the general public eager for any new ideas in the new 20th century. Thus futurism and the triumph of enthusiasm over actual innovation developed in the 1900- 1910 years before World War I brought brutality and conquest all around the world.
After World War II the marketing hype for the military innovations of that war intoxicated the public with nuclear power (fallout and nuclear waste), DDT (and global hydrocarbon pollution), jet planes and rockets and petrochemical plastics (with environmental destruction and global warming), asbestos products (and lung cancer mesothelioma), and antibiotics (and now super bugs from their misuse).
What no one noticed was that all of the eventual problems and environmental disasters of these new technologies were clearly evident in their original marketing, just ignored to emphasize the selling points over the eventual, inevitable problems. It was inherent in modern technology based on modern science which isolated and highlighted what was simple and profitable.
The other stuff was pushed out of the current focus, to be the problem of some other specialist, when that area became so important a professional job would be created. The assumption was that nothing done would become so big a problem that some other new technology couldn’t fix it later. The notion that the whole system of isolated focus and exhausting everything else into the environment could bring about Global warming just didn’t enter official science.
Postmodern science must begin by rejecting the simplistic notions of prior centuries. Nothing can be isolated any more. Everything that isn’t recycled and exhausted or dumped instead will cause major problems. Synthetic chemicals must biodegrade to natural materials to be worth their cost and environmental damage. The use of fossil-fuels and high temperature fire or explosions can only be successful where there is no possible lower temperature or renewable alternative.
Just that beginning insight would be enough to flag what postmodern science and technology has to replace on an emergency basis. Reliable electric power for lighting and computer electronics is a global need immediately. Turbine based local generating systems that can run on biofuels until non-combustion biological (new bacteria perhaps) energy sources can be developed are the wave of the future with immediate uses everywhere.
Even fuel cells, especially with the ability to compost garbage while outputting home electric power would be a great boon. The high voltage power of today is an accommodation to the long-distance power transmission grid of J.P. Morgan’s early 20th century dream of putting every home under the yoke of his national corporate power companies.
Computers and other electronics must convert that national grid transmission voltage to the low-voltage power for the electronic components. Other peripherals have developed to use the available power sources, but they will have to be redesigned as global warming and terrorism make the national power grid as unreliable in major Western cities as it is today (2007)in Baghdad or India.
So where must you go to find access to postmodern science?
Sabian Astrology (on the Nav Bar) is a prototype postmodern science that gives an individual the ability to develop actual experience seeing the world without the cloistered blinders of the academic Establishment. Finding your own place in an independent perspective that you know works from your own research upon your own horoscope and those of others is the best escape hatch available from the sinking fossil-fuel nightmare which arises from the primitive assumptions of modern science.
Sabian Astrology is a development of Marc E. Jones, born in the 19th century who became a major scenario writer in the new 20th century movie industry. With the emergence of the new realities with the discovery of Pluto in 1930 he turned his attention to making traditional astrology an alternative to Freudian psychology as well as an independent rational science.
The free enquiry of the ancient Pythagorean number systems is only known as the Occult in the academic Establishment. That is the expression of the avoidance of all geometrical studies, non-Church based which recognize the importance of the subjective researcher as well as the objective results.
At the moment the only entrée point into rational, objective inquiry is through the techniques of Sabian Astrology and other TIMING ANALOGS.

Everything “Modern” is Obsolete!
We tend to associate the term modern to the Futurist enthusiasm of the first years of the 20th century—before Roger Bacon’s 13th century insight into engine technology became operational in World War I.Or at least to the early 19th century integration of “modern”, “science” and military conquest under Napoleon and his generals—also stars of mathematical physics. The so-called Age of the Modern begins as British technology puts Napoleon’s principles of transport and mass production into practice with the Watt steam engine.
Postmodern science at this point can only reject the silliness and brutality of modern science and its economic misadventures. Where did such mistakes and misunderstanding of reality come from?
The term modern actually starts with Abelard in the beginning of the Crusader or “Modern” Millennium. That was the time when folks finally gave up their attempt to hold on the Roman Empire realities and accepted the way things were today (modus hodie or modern). These new innovations involved primogenitor since the traditional estates could no longer support of the children of the great families.
Also arising in the 11th century were the Crusades or the recognition not only was the Roman Empire gone, but other societies had more and better things than Europe. So Europeans set out to conquer them and take their wealth home. Abelard introduced new philosophical perspectives of logic and rational inquiry along with the modern academic tradition of seducing his female student.
Another great innovative mind of the 11th century was Solomon Ben Judah Ibn Gabirol. Unfortunately, his work has been misinterpreted since he wrote in the tedious format of his day using the description of things in terms of form and substance which is now called Neo-Platonic.
Ibn Gabirol was writing about the process of creative creation; however that only comes through in the final sentences of a several hundred page book (The Source of Life or the Fountain of Life in current translations, though it is actually The Living Fountain of spontaneous creation, as the sun showers the Planet Earth with its rays creating the visible world anew each dawn (when folks without artificial light can see it again.
This creative joy also came through in Ibn Gabirol’s Hebrew poetry which remains alive and appreciated today. The more general philosophical implications of his work will be part of postmodern science. At the moment they only exist in Marc E. Jones work with the Ibn Gabirol Magic Squares and the recreation of the Mysteries of Solar Initiation. Reclaiming Ibn Gabirol from the modern millennium to this current new millennium now will be a major asset to the development of post modern scientists.
The Modern or Crusader Millennium starting 1001 the good years 11th-13th centuries
Modern Science is Idolatry of Silly Machines And Simple Math Mistaken for God’s Creation Language
What is Modern Physics without these strange machines and their phony measurements:
The mechanical clock—What does it measure?
The use of an arbitrary count of abstract cycles of mechanical motion does very little good in any context. How is it relevant to understanding reality? Is it in any way real? Time needs to be relevant to timing and to real processes going on within and around us. Mechanical clock time can’t do that. Only postmodern science can even think about it.
Mechanical clock time became important for its use in factories for accounting labor costs at a more profitable rate than just dawn to dusk which changed with the seasons. The huge Town Clocks of the market towns free from local landowner control by their economic product and maritime supply spread the notion of numbers and freedom. Not for what these primitive clocks measured, but the details of the politics they expressed in the Middle Ages.
Natural timing and postmodern science is available from every vertical stick, sundial or complex computer marking real observed time. For experiment timing, try doing as Galileo did, use the human heart beat for time based in human reality. That changes the machine intoxicated complain. That is the reason for good meditation training, to learn to keep your heartbeat steady—and to be aware of what is going on when it isn’t.
Video of championship meditation experts who train (and win contests for their regular heart beats can be used for those needing an equivalent to their mechanical clocks. There are simple solutions to all apparent problems. It is the thinking that needs to change in postmodern science, not so much the technological details.
What is thermometer temperature or calorimeter measurements? No known or possible substance obeys the linear relations assumed in thermodynamics. The body measures exactly where the blood must remove heat or bring heat to maintain homeostasis. What does abstract temperature track?
The use of a glass tube marked in arbitrary degrees started with Fahrenheit. He thought he had the ideal scientific temperature scale--180 degrees from the freezing point of water to the boiling point, like degrees in a straight angle or line. The zero point set to the limit of his lab methods, the coldest point available by mixing salt and ice.
Then new freezing techniques developed lower temperatures and folks figured out 100 degrees was easier than 180. The lowest point then came from experiments with gases, where it was calculated all gases would come to total zero molecular motion or absolute zero.
Then Lord Kelvin wrote some non-sense claptrap and claimed this scale was now his thermodynamics based Kelvin temperature scale.Showing you could become immortal in science by stealing other systems and just writing a good, trendy reason for it.
The steam engine was big, Lord Kelvin claimed the steam engine made a new temperature scale, just happened to be identical to the old one. Lucky Lord Kelvin. That is modern science and thievery, not postmodern science.
Newton did the same, taking the ancient pan balance and renaming it a mass balance with his equation F=ma creating a new fantasy concept-- mass or weight without the assumed force of gravity.
Weight is what we all experience. It comes from our necessary perception of the complex motion of the Earth moving along from the Big Bang through now to wherever the galaxy is going. What need is there of what Newton recognizes as a magical force inherent in matter acting at a distance to pull upon all matter?
It was all Newton could come up with in his math. Also he missed the explanation by pure logic of weight--that any speck of anything that didn't experience that weight and falling toward the center of the Earth would have been left behind millions of years ago.
How did the Watt steam engine become the Golden Calf of Thermodynamics?
The British developed a great steam engine and used it to reshape the economy and infrastructure of their world by the time Carnot wrote the first anything on thermodynamics. Its development owed nothing to science or theory. Thermodynamics is the "modern science" claptrap thrown together to adore the steam engine.
Steam engines run on the Curie principle as a structure to take the pressure difference between hot steam and cooled steam (water mostly)and raise it from a scalar to a vector energy. Nothing to do with anything known to thermodynamics. All they knew was the strokes of the Watt steam engine piston and the ideal gas equation
No turbines, no fluid dynamics of steam, no phase change for non-ideal water vapor. They created steam tables and entropy to try to account for results with their ignorance, but its not science. It is taught today as pure bombast and power abuse.
Postmodern science must first laugh off what is still taught as modern science. It has been always and all ways silly but now it is dangerous. Believing what the Established professors teach, even when they made no sense was never a good thing. It used to be the price for a good grade and recommendation for a good job in the field. Now it is just a ticket to be left in the dust with the aftermath of Global Warming.
To laugh at thermodynamics and poke holes in what modern science still teaches requires two things. First YOU must take the personal freedom to know that the cloistered academics are out of touch with reality. The Second thing you need is a little exposure to the implications of various mathematical assumptions.
Math has Consequences! E.g. percentage rate math calculations hide issues of scale—everything is brought to seem how many pennies on the single dollar.Investors adding $100 billion dollars to U.S. stock market is less than 1 percent of U.S. $12 billion economy, it is more than 10 percent to any economy smaller than Canada. Which stock market will show more gain for that investment?
Need any further explanation for globalization? Corporate investment in small economies (and their stock markets) will bring major (thousands of percent) increase in stock insiders profit returns in those emerging markets as well as higher marginal profits for goods made there and sold to U.S. domestic consumers at prevailing American prices.
Math assumptions have real world consequences
Percentage rate commissions create high end top heavy corruption. When election campaign contributions became brokers’ commissions for law makers doing corporate business requests things changed. The deal that earns the highest broker’s commission is the one that makes no rational sense, but would be very profitable if closed.
Politicians needed millions in campaign money to pay for TV ads, business had many terrible deals and ideas that would be worth hundreds of millions in excess profits if enacted by Congress. The Devil’s bargain was struck and corruption and bad policy flourished. The other consequence of a campaign system run on broker commissions is that the final outcome is ignored. The broker earns his commission when the deal is signed, not when it turns out OK.
This also fits neatly into the election campaign model. The candidates all collect contributions at about 1 percent of the expected excess profit from the deal their lobbyist proposes. Only one candidate per election ever needs to deliver and then only if enough others are elected on that deal to be the majority vote.
Such a deal must have broad excess profit potential which means it must NOT make sense in the long run for a lot of reasons. Sensible proposals just need reasonable minds to listen. In a percentage rate brokerage for campaign contributions being reasonable is a loser so is postmodern science.
After a few elections where massive campaign contributions make the difference between winning or losing the seat in Congress, those brokerage commissions will be the margin of victory. There can only be extreme partisans with good fund raising techniques being elected to open seats under this system. Enough of the old guard may survive to keep things sounding almost normal.
In major change elections, only an electorate immune to TV ads can survive. That speaks well for postmodern science as an alternative to marketing. Marketing works well on an unaware electorate, however, it doesn’t take many years of the total irrational corruption spawned by percentage rate brokerage commission financing to bring about the kind of Systems collapse that forces not just change but total Change.
Y2K or the millennium bug was the computer problem that arose from the inability of vast quantities of decades old COBAL programming to deal with a change in millennium in dates from 1999 to 2000. The secret to understanding this problem is in the nature of the early COBAL programming language.
It was the first computer programming language designed so that small business owners could read and understand the code since it was in English phrases. The idea was that this transparency would make it possible for programmers and business owners to work together computerizing the vast segment of the economy composed of family businesses. An opportunity to start postmodern science if it worked out and brought greater community and understanding.
What COBAL didn’t deal with well were the realities of the dysfunctional psychology rampant in U.S. small business. The early computers also had very tight constraints on memory available, so efficient programming was important. This put the computer programmers trying to make their early code tools work with the business owners who expected to be able to get things fixed their way when they yelled about it.
Computers can’t notice yelling. Computer programmers don’t do well in human conflict situations or delicate diplomacy with primitive warriors and determined businessmen. The results were such that no one wanted to repeat the process when more sophisticated computers and programming languages became available. Just running away, no interest in postmodern science.
It was such a painful experience that everyone involved short circuited any real insight and got done as soon as possible. So the old code, so painfully written was patched and kept working indefinitely. By the 1990’s those who could face reality brought in professionals with new computers and new programming methods to work with the company specialists.
This left government agencies and small businesses particularly dysfunctional family owned enterprises where the boss ruled and yelled at subordinates to make things work while he called them names. Turns out this is a large sector in the U.S. economy. All folks noticed was the use of numbers 0-99 instead of 1900-1999 in the date coding of the programming not the need for postmodern science.
If dates only go to 99, something has to be done to get them to read 100+ and ideally to know that dates are four digit numbers. The old code made it impossible to keep the jury rigged programs in 2000CE. The larger issues like postmodern science got swept away in the work to just change the computer code to function at all after midnight New Year’s Eve 1999.
Y2K itself was the fallout of the attempt of the youth generation computer nerds to update the father-of-the-family business leaders a few decades earlier in the enthusiasm of the New Age (of computers). No one bothered to notice postmodern science, there were so many tedious hours of minor correction to be patched. Who wanted to deal with larger issues than just getting the job done so that the decades old stuff could go on for decades more?
If the question were asked openly, some folks might have noted that keeping stuff from 25-30 years ago still coasting on into the indefinite future was probably a mistake. Especially in a field like computer technology better updating than that was important. However, everyone who could be sold that perspective had already updated by 1999.No market for postmodern science yet.
Y2K was the harbinger that things were in for massive disruptions as the future in the form of the new millennium caught with the present. No much happened with the Y2K bug, since the changes that had to be made were. The rest was just added to the potential surprise of the new millennium. No postmodern science consideration, this was brute force thinking only. First to spring was the gap in new technology spending.
With such a rush and panic to fix Y2K, when January 2000 showed up without any problems let alone disasters, business folks finally took a breath. Not enough space to start developing postmodern science or even to think about the larger issues involved in the use of this new technology in such old fashioned enterprises.
They had all been terrified into vast new computerization spending with the fear that they would go bankrupt if they didn’t move to the new technology. This generated the vast investment required to build the new fiber optic infrastructure to begin high-speed Internet capacity. This meant video quality to hook children and intrigue them away from Broadcast TV.Kids and the Internet-- postmodern science is gestating.
The problem was that no one stopped to think-period. They didn’t think what changes were being initiated that would not fit into the old models. Still no postmodern science. Accidentally, the Internet developed a de-centralized structure which meant there could no longer be central command and control of the economy.
This arose from Pentagon generals telling one consultant that they had to plan for first strike thermonuclear war since it was impossible to have decentralized command and control communications. Hearing that as either he came up with the Internet system or the generals would blow up his kids, he did it. A bit of postmodern science at gunpoint.
The thinking didn’t change, anything but the rich and powerful control the high ground and everyone else must submit to their control, was unthinkable. No postmodern science still. So the Internet was developed as a new profit model without realizing it was also a new reality of global equality and decentralized operation.
What the dinosaurs of major multinational corporations did was build breeding habitats for the baby mammals of the new Internet revolution. This terror campaign got the new businesses over the hump of start up costs. postmodern science was beginning its technology development. But then Y2K wised up the corporate and small business chumps and marks that not all technology terrors would come true and savage them.
The result was a vast slowdown in new technology spending. The feverish pitch of 1999 wasn’t going to continue no matter what. The break in the terror put more caution into old style business executives. Then the lack of fantastic and amazing quarter over quarter percentage rate increases in all technology stocks brought an end to that stock bubble in the second quarter of 2000 after disappointing first quarter numbers were reported.
The losses were enormous, but basically forgotten soon as the lower values meant new profits to the next set of technology stock entrepreneurs and investors. The system was unstoppable. Some one would make money, the basic functioning of the jet set economy would continue with just different darlings being trendy to make profits for both bears and bulls. Postmodern science would have to wait for something bigger to grab attention.
Then the new millennium began 2001 but no one noticed. No postmodern science yet thought about. It was all the same good old economy buzzing along. Not until September 11th did folks notice that a few people could bring this modern economy to its knees. That didn’t spark postmodern science development. It didn’t start deep thinking about the limits of the millennium old Capitalist economy of boom and bust. It only brought the thought that this economic downturn needed a new war to pick things up again.
Osama Bin Laden got his start in the CIA training and covert weapons given him to fight the Russians in Afghanistan. Reagan’s people assumed fundamentalist Muslims fighting Soviets must be just like Christian fundamentalist anti-Communists. The detail they were different and would take that experience (and Stinger missile training and supplies) to use against other infidels, like Christian America never crossed anyone’s mind.
Once 9/11 happened there still was no time wasted thinking about postmodern science or what this attack all meant in any larger context. I had thought about it in the ‘70’s when I first heard about Stinger cheap, shoulder-fired anti-aircraft missiles in law school. The poor nations of the Earth were complaining to the U.N. about having their resource prices kept low to the high prices of industrial goods they bought.
I reasoned, the poor and downtrodden of the world would survive by Malthusian population excess no matter what. The developed world could only continue is they kept their sales revenues growing by the expected percentage rate of increase each year. These two facts meant that either the developed world took the rest of the world as customers to be listened to and sold products or there would have to be a fundamental conflict.
Stinger missiles meant the poor and starving (especially in oil rich places where a few million for missiles is available) could interfere with the world economy. So, eventually the poor and starving would dictate terms to the capitalist world. Give us Coke we like or we will blow up your economic growth stats and destroy your accounting spreadsheets.
Now comes the new millennium, but no postmodern science so far, marked unfortunately by the emergence of aircraft destruction by folks with little money. Instead of seeing the Big Picture and dealing with new issues for this new time, everything bogged down in the reactionary quagmire to continue the Crusades in the Middle East of the 11th century. It has worked OK for like a thousand years, what else could anyone need?
New terrors were brought forth as government policy to support funding requests. This was an old technique. Truman was told to scare the American people to get funding for Atomic bombs—that was the heart of the Cold War, terrorizing Republican voters to get more tax dollars for the military.
Fortunately, the Modern or Crusader Millennium is over, but with postmodern science as a just a name while petroleum warlords still rule the governments and the economy like will be tough for awhile. The same old policies continue until new things like Hurricane Katrina and Global Warming force change.
Postmodern science will be survival techniques and human scale engineering for this new millennium. Time to move on or be left behind with the debris of the Modern and the Crusaders and the Petroleum Warlords.
