Yi oracle Trigram Sunshine: A situation where the underlying process is of more importance than the superficial events. The juice of energy that results when we express energy.

Yi oracle Trigram Heartland: The matrix or underlying pattern which gives the events we notice their form, substance, and potential. Pouring everything out to see what cannot be lost. The channel of development.

Yi oracle Trigram Streaks: What is seen first as the process runs by and yet stays behind when the slate is wiped clear. Grabbing on to what appears, completing and decorating and keeping.

Yi oracle Trigram Flames: The independent expression of transition. Highlighting the manifest mystery and giving power to the rush of potential as it changes planes to become actual events.

The Corner hexagram is the Heart Line Pair of a Yi oracle expanded into an entire hexagram. It is also the one of the four hexagrams which do not have a Zodiac degree correspondence. They are the first pair and the last pair by the King Wen Sequence, leaving the remaining 60 hexagrams as the circle which corresponds to the Zodiac.

These hexagrams form the corners or cardinal points when the 64 hexagrams are put upon a horoscope wheel with the 360 core lines about the circumference. They represent archetypes, Sunshine Heaven and Homeland Planet Earth as well as Sunrising Morning After and Sunsetting Eve.

As presented upon this page, the emphasis is moved from the line judgments for the moving lines of a Yi Oracle to the line places that are being emphasized and the overall process described by the two hexagrams. The Yi oracle then becomes a process that answers your question which has an emphasis upon all that process (no moving lines) or specific line places which will change the momentum to the Resultant.

Yi Oracle Hexagram Sketches

1.Sunshine. The beaming son shines pure energy to imitate the process of sunshine to activate, gladden and express total light.
Express the process. Keep the flux flowing—acts-¬reaction now results fallout later.

2.Homeland. (Heartland). The ground of being centered and at home. The depth of feelings that is the matrix and channel for all expression.
Channel the heart's feeling. Open fully and let it all flow out. The next is coming and it needs free space now.

3.Strikes. Launching an initiative that reaches beyond, but so far has only called out. Labor strikes, the clock strikes, danger strikes, three strikes, the mint strikes a new coin, to strike out or win.
Dive into action but don't swoop to the bottom. Commit yourself, realizing obligations limit as well as support. Meet reaction, don't expect smooth sailing.

4.Pupal. (Pupil). The cocoon of forced rest and re-enforced growth. The apple of the eye that has little taste but can expand to meet changing conditions. Learning to wait and prepare for the great change.
Peek into the depths, before you dive into the climb to the peaks. Turn inward, let the outsides go. Grow rather than plan or execute.

5.Watering. The ground is planted but the sprouts haven't yet appeared. The time of waiting that dissolves, waters down, prepares, and grows.
Dive into expression, disappear into development not open show; let the results speak for themselves. Give full measure with an open hand, much faith and modest expectations.

6.Striving. Competition and effort that easily forgets the common goal and falls into strife. Any loss of centering quickly falls.
Express your depths. Let the outsiders play with-out losing your insides, keep desires down, bring efforts up; don't lose sight of the goal beyond the shining prize.

7.Corps (core, corpse). The organization of cogs into a powerful wheel, which is at its best when the absolute center is an open hub, though it sounds best when all the parts are silenced and only follow.
Channel the depths. Organize and direct what you can't seize, correct or eliminate. Structure gives more power than any moving force.

8.Filling In. The call to join many small streams into a mighty river, or at least to fill in awhile until each must take its separate trail.
Dive through the channel, to channel the heart's feeling from the depths. Find the bedrock course and see where it leads. Flow and float but don't walk on the water or let yourself get swept away.

9.Open Field (Fallow Field). The fertile ground that hasn't been plowed under yet. Possibility and potential abound but time, effort, and patience's reward must be invested before anything good will come to flower.
Watch the streaks of expression. See the tags, accept the delay, pay the freight, do what is needed now, results you want can come yet.

10.Treads (threads, trends). One foot follows the other leaving clear and unique trails. Ahead is only a glimmering thread, and how you tread your trail will be the trend others will follow and judge.
Express content. Let events take their course without closing your eyes or avoiding your part. Share experience, open opportunity. Cherish center.

11.Dreamland. The state of dreams and fantasies which has so much to offer but needs great support and grounding to endure and be real.
Channel the expression. Guide and direct the flow of process without meddling (medal-ing). Control by guiding organize by elevating.

12.No Exit. (no way, now sit, know it). When the past can't be passed and the future's been deferred; development and growth continue inside though the lack of outside response or support causes pain and strain, doubt, worry and loss.
Express the heart-felt. Accept the limits and make them frames to focus your inner image. Keep expectations small and commitments strong. Relax into the stress to ease the strain, hold firm to what endures to endure and transmute the pain.

13.Love Song. The musical strains that recall and suggest grand passion and high ideals but also maintain the distance between the actors and the audience, now and as then, imagined.
Express the sparks, process the flames. Let the energy shine without singeing the environment realizing neither ashes not burns are romantic in the cold light of day.

14.True Gold (goaled). Clear, shining, flexible, competent for many purposes, valued and refined; these are the qualities of true gold which is often found in the excellence of the fit to this situation rather than the abstract assay of its mettle.
Spark the process. Highlight the possibilities and adapt the follow-thru. Arrange, organize, relate, co-operate.

15.Churning (Spinning wheels). The constant turmoil inside that churns out sweet butter and thickens our milk of human kindness.
Channel pique. Don't get mad, get even and try to be fair. Passion refined and directed is power harnessed and ready to go. Surrender-victory to the beyond rather than seize de-feat here.

16.Singing. Opening your heart to let your soul shine forth while still keeping your heart within its cage. The call toothers from the depths of self that brings relief and invites response.
Act through channels, don't get swept away. Give instructions, take command. Don't grab, sweep clean. Be reliable and don't rely on the slick to carry the day.

17.Tracking. Following the lines laid down before you, searching out the quarry you need, laying down the lines and limits to be obeyed.
Be content with reaction. Turn in, tune up, let it flow without getting swamped, do it over again until it follows smoothly.

18.Ferment. The bubbling transformation of decay and rebirth that is the heart of the momentum of life-process.
Peek between the streaks. See the peaks emerging through the wisps and streaks. Watch which way the wind blows, feel the limitations, develop the next step without invasion or evasion. Remember, life waves and twists but clear, straight trails remain.

19.Coming Together. The point when all roads meet and form a strong point that ties all the loose ends into bundles and brings far and wide to focus. Out the other side everything can fall away as fast and as far as it came together.
Channel content. Make the most of favorable flows and events without sweeping away foundations or giving out totally.

20. Models. The image and form that makes plans tangible and gives fantasies flesh and blood vehicles. Clouds, toys, dreams, servants.
Examine the streaks, flow through channels without whistling in the dark. Use perspective to organize, float rather than seize, delegate from above.

21. Digging In. Chewing through the resistance to find the valuable core; establishing a position, grinding down opposition, throwing out the scraps and refining the essence.
Spark the thrust. Shine forth in action. Look deep, know where you're going, get down to it, move powerfully and leave a clear trail. No time for doubt, no room for error, no place to avoid.

22.Highlights. The drama of light and shadow, the magic of the campfire, the transience of the beautiful moment.
Peek into the flames. After the peak the challenge of the valley yawns.

23.Fall's Down. The harvest of autumn leaves and Thanksgiving fruit, the collapse of prior heights and the clear approach of the next.
Peaks define the channel. Peek down into the foundations and prepare to descend from what was last or lasting into what is next and unknown.

24.Spring's Back. The return of the pendulum swing, that is dark and still now to divide its prior motion from its next flight. The return of life energy with its springing water and singing birds.
Channel action, develop reaction. Take time to focus and prepare, but don't try to keep hidden. Energy needs space and direction but can't be blocked.

25.Naive. Expression and reflection without prior direction. The open sharing of the potentials of the time that brings a wide range of reaction and can neither be depended upon nor totally accepted. The surrender to the moment that lingers a long time.
Express action. Observe reaction, flow with the jerks, accept non-action. Hold your center, let the rest go, don't resist the flow, beware of whiplash.

26.Virgin Land. The new world locked behind the former growth that requires great pains to clear its fields and bring forth its rich potential. A time of extreme potential barely visible now. Develop the peak of expression.
Peek into the process. See the limits in one direction, seek to use open space in another.

27.Nursing. The intense cry for succor and relief that establishes the foundations of relationship and proves the bonds of commitment.
Peek into actions. Act behind the scenes, through private channels while keeping up normal appearances. Give what is needed, take away what can't be kept. Give shares, take turns, know your limits.

28.High Overhead. The distant storm cloud and the ever-present ceiling that demands constant attention yet avoids clear resolution. The tangible effects of insufficient support and excessive outreach.
Be content with streaks. Share the flow of possibilities. Seek new support and contact while reinforcing solid foundations and long-standing commitments.

29.The Depths of the Depths. The innermost core that can be felt in every ramification but is only clearly available to the most perceptive and deep-seated. The measure of potential, the proof of faith.
Dive through the depths, but don't get hung-up in the eddies. Keep working deeper and let the flux pass on out.

30.Flaming Light. The sparks of energy and insight that fly from current process and carry the seeds of new development. The process of magnificently destroying what is at hand to bring to light the possibilities around.
Light the inner flame. Sparks dazzle as they fly free, smolder and singe when they fall. Only glowing coals can be counted upon to keep working. Fire depends on much and destroys all.

31.Moonshine. The subtle fluid light of the moon that harmonizes and glamorizes and hides all the secrets behind the romance of the moment until the hangover the morning after.
Be content to peek. Let inner contents peak and shine forth. Open, share, but don't give away or forget the next day's coming.

32.Old Faithful. The dynamic regularity of erupting thrust and quiet return that is the foundation of all continuity and boredom. The march of times that can cripple creativity or unleash wonder.
Sweep out, streaks trickle back. Cycles of hard action and gentle returns. Continue, adapt, adjust, reciprocate, strike, relax, keep going.

33.Flight. The taking off from one part to take part in something else. The ambiguous situation of quick release of present bonds for possible future interests. Cutting loose, changing planes, getting out and away.
Express the peaks. Lift off from the top, cut red tape and leave behind red ribbons. Shine it on and peek beyond and don’t look back.

34.Plows. The implement and the process of turning under the old and preparing the new through the clear trail of hard work and deep investment.
Sweeping expression. Throw yourself into the task with a smile. Push hard and follow through. Thrust carries now but must deal with the reaction before the job is all done. It's your move and your responsibility how it all turns out in the end.

35.Rising Sun. (Son). The dawning of the new age when the dormant elements are united by a clear focus to serve the present needs. It is the integration of the new and young within the tracks of old.
Spark the heart's channel. Light up the end of the tunnel but don't burn out. Shine and lead remembering what supports and controls doesn't show up or die away.

36.Setting Sun. (Son). The time when the day culminates in a flash of brilliance, color, and surrender to the beyond. The situation of meditation, development, romance and limitation.
Channel your light. Shade your eyes, shield the sparks, enjoy the warm glow inside and be gentle without.

37.Homing. The spiraling trail that brings the distant back to the home fires burning bright. The homing instinct that homes in and hones the edges to bring everything to focus and organization.
Streaks of flame trace the course, guide you home and carry your effects. Flow with the sparks, follow the inner light.

38.Screens. The interplay of openings and limitations that sifts, separates, refines and frustrates by displaying the final product or glowing image and hiding the rest.
Light up contents and be content to lighten up. Showing off uses up, lets down and puts on. Sparks shared glowed bright.

39.Valley Forge. The historic situation that beat the people's mettle down to its foundations and sprang back with powerful temper. The process of internal development by reaction to external forces.
Don't dive from the peaks, peek beyond the depths. Stand tall when you hit bottom, bow at the top, and always keep true to center. Have faith, things can't stay this way forever.

40.Release. (Re-lease). The time when the wheat separates from the chaff, the release of tension and the re-leasing of prime commitments. Resolution comes and knots untie and bonds reform. Swoop from the depths.
Dive into action, keep moving, quick, light, free—don't hold on, if it doesn't follow don't try to carry it.

41.Sacrifice. The process of transforming what is lost into the mystery beyond. The change of perspective that uplifts and recovers what cannot be kept. The partial surrender that raises special consideration.
Peek beyond content. Give what you can, cherish what remains, can the excess. The peak of content is being able to give away and share.

42.Blessing. The gift of Divine words and unexpected events that charms and graces and embellishes. Such gifts must be accepted by opening self and such charms demand sharing and surrender.
Follow along in action. Let the little hints guide great acts. The strong hand is within the velvet glove. Streaks and hints form the tracks for future power.

43.Overwhelming. The confrontation of vastly excessive dynamic to the current situation. The waves pour over the top, inundating the other side. Whether we conquer or are conquered, control of the flood—now that it has crested— is the crucial issue.
Be content to follow through. Sharing keeps on giving, gives no notice when it gives out. After the break it's a new deal, not a clean slate.

44. Lady Luck. The ethereal image of fantasy success that delights but doesn't stay; who conquers but never submits, that beckons without following.
Express streaks. Suggest many things but deliver little guarantees. Enjoy the possibilities without entangling commitments.

45.Deep Filling. (Feeling). The welling up of many streams into a mighty sea that still must depend upon its connections and circulations throughout the land to maintain its content and position.
Be content to channel. Only the deepest and most receptive can contain all, any prominence reduces capacity to accept, disrupts smooth flow.

46.Unfurling. The current bud opens to present its flower to the light; the battle rages to determine which flag will dominate the scene. Much work and opportunity now; yet later must administer not pillage.
Channel the streaks. A great stroke is growing. Maintain open space ahead and within, keep grounded behind—push toward the goal not over it.

47. Missing. (Tapped out). What you have highlights what isn't with you. Appreciate this matrix, prepare the next step to fit what comes to fill your space.
Be content with depth, don't dive into the pool until it is refilled just right. Leaks now show unexpected depths and opportunities.

48.Mine. (Mime). The gateway of relationship, centering and power that depends ultimately upon its internal contents and how clearly its structure works.
Dive to the roots, flow along the veins, but don't get caught in unsupported (vain) galleries. It's only what you can safely bring back to share that will be counted.

49.Molten Goals. The change in state from one solid, fixed structure and appearance to a new and fluid appearance that hopes to express the same essence in a better form.
Be content with inner light. Let contents sparkle and ignite. Share energy, shine through content, bring up reserves and exchange bright ideas for concerted action.

50.Altar. (Alter, halter). The ties and structures that transform what we have to give into the image and expression ofwhat we most desire and respect. The place of creative destruction and transformation.
Spark the streaks, light up the wisps and roots of elegance. Make way for the old to become new. Don't abandon, transform. What's needed next is hidden in the present.

51.Swoops. (Sh—oops, sweeps). The forceful thrust and powerful action like the thunderbird hitting the Earth or the Cosmic Mother taking her broom to clean up the floor and pummel the disobedient.
Swoop down and sweep clean. New energy stirs up old dust but cannot keep all shiny forever. Hit fast, move on, let the rest follow.

52.Peaks. (Peeks, piques). The culmination of prior heights and sights that closes off what has been and prepares to dive into what comes next. The point of transition or reversal that caps last and opens next.
Peak (peek) over the peaks (piques). When you come into your limits keep grounded but don't close your eyes too tight. Clear limits create free spaces.

53.Diamond Cutting. (The almond cutting or sprout). The culmination of exquisite resources and expert skill into the awesome moment when the best preparations must be integrated with cosmic mystery and mastery to produce a dazzling product which can be further crafted and refined.
Flow toward the peak. Complete the plan, let the investment grow; nothing final yet, nothing truly lost, everything to be done to gain.

54.Chasing Rainbows. The pursuit of ultimate and elusive possibility that ennobles the chaste and chastises those who try to avoid the present to find no-where. The sign in the heavens to be cherished.
Sweep up content. Everything available is fair game, but there are no guarantees or returns. Try out new models, explore possibilities, beware hard commitments and lingering ties.

55. Fireworks. (Total solar eclipse). The awesome spectacle that culminates long waiting and preparation in one brief magnificence and leaves sparks, embers, memories and aftermath.
Sweep up the sparks. The current display must be enjoyed as it happens—a mass outpouring. Don't try to hold on to the skyrocket, don't bewail its fall—if it didn't plunge in flames, it wouldn't have been launched to begin with.

56.Just Passing. (Passerby). The razor edge of meeting between two widely different or the too widely different that causes unexpected and magic effects between them. The bridge that appears for the moment only.
Light up the peaks. Spark, peek, squint and edge. Move on carrying what can be kept and used next, leaving the rest in the best light.

57.Streaks. The wisps, ribbons, perfumes, and roots that cannot be wiped away or depended upon totally. The partial and the fluid that can make or break any process.
Flow with the streaks. Dance down the trail, opening to the light yet carving your own groove.

58.Contents. The inner essence that fills the outer form with substance or pleasure. The within or inside that is most valuable when available to others yet still not totally without.
Be content to share basic content. Open to accept as well as to give. Sharing is not sacrifice or conquest but giving receipt.

59.Solution. The merging of essences that gives a very different appearance though maintains the fundamental substance. The release of fixed bonds in exchange for more intimate support. Streak to the depths.
Root up and let the flow go (the glow flow). As the cracks grow and the boulders dissolve, preserve what is foundation and open channels for the flux, enjoy the rest.

60.Lining. The gentle border that cushions, separates and creates new forms or territories. The active process of drawing boundaries and shading that makes the image come alive.
Dive into content. Be content with what can be illustrated or seen without demanding total disclosure. Accept partial limits and enjoy full spaces.

61.Love's Root. (Love's route). The inner chamber and deep sanctuary of feelings and forces that gestates and nourisheswhat has yet to be seen or borne. The process of giving the intangible structure so that it can become manifest and active.
Flow with inner content. Let the streaks express sharing and guide your followers home. Embrace openness and open yourself to embraces, letting the flux pass and the essential take root.

62.Thins Edges (The Razor's Edge). The pruning, honing, weeding, sharpening that is the core of refining and preparing, yet always runs the risk that excessive zeal will destroy all the careful work. The razor's edge that must be stropped and cared for to work without nicking.
Swoop only to the peak (peek). Sweep and peek to achieve just the right edge. Back up action with acceptance of limits, nothing is forever, beware of going too far.

63.Morning After. (Mourning after) The time when dawn comes and all the mysteries of the night give way to the realities and aftermath of today. The turning point from what was and now is gone to what is and yet will be.
Don't dive into the flames. Completing the goal burns up the dream, bury the fantasies and get on with the task. The phoenix eggs are hatching.

64.Eve. (Eave). The time before the new dawn when all is magic and opportunity. The protection and open space available between environments. The image and model of pure essence before it is tested.
Light up the depths. Bring the treasure to the sunshine. Explore new realms, develop new ways, keep growing in spite of the pains and losses.

The full Flux Tome perspective upon the I Ching still has many additional fields of explanation of each of the 64 hexagrams in their King Wen Sequence. These sketches will at least illustrate the style using American terms for the names and meanings of the trigrams and hexagrams in Yi oracles.
